Guardian Children's Fiction Prize Longlist.

The
Guardian has announced an eight-stong longlist for its prestigious
annual Children's Fiction Prize. The list includes books by Kevin
Brooks, Keith Gray and Mark Haddon which are also on the Booktrust
Teenage Prize shortlist. |

Eccleshare, the Guardian children's books editor and chair of the
panel of judges, said of the longlist; "...the
inclusion of these new voices marks a step forward, as it challenges
children to examine the prejudices of society and offers them an ever-widening
understanding of the varied world in which they find themselves." |

| The
shortlist expected to be announced during September, with the winners
announcement being made on 4th October 2003. |
