Anthony McGowan has won the 2006 Booktrust Teenage Prize for Henry Tumour. The announcement was made during a ceremony on 2nd November. This years' judging panel was chaired by author Mal Peet who said the book "was a wise, sensitive and questioning novel".
2006 marks the fourth year of this award which recognises and celebrates contemporary fiction written for teenagers.
This year The Reading Agency worked with Booktrust to promote the Prize through public and school library services and increase awareness of the prize.
The award website www.bookheads.org.uk provides an interactive platform for teenagers, authors and celebrities alike to share their favourite books and their discussions on the awards process.
