Royal Society Junior Science Prize Winner

The Junior Prize winner for the Royal Society Prizes for Science Books 2007, which celebrates the best books published for the first time in English during 2006, has been announced.   The Junior Prize, which is given to the best book written for under-14s was chosen by judging panels of young people in over one hundred organisations across the UK.

Five Junior Prize judges, chaired by award-winning author Eleanor Updale chose six books for the Junior Prize shortlist.

The Royal Society Prizes for Science Books celebrates the very best in popular science writing for adults and children. Ever since the Prizes were originally established in 1988 they have had the same aim - to encourage the writing, publishing and reading of good and accessible popular science books. They have grown to become one of the UK's most prestigious non-fiction literary prizes.
