The 2010 Summer Reading Challenge, Space-Hop 20 January 2010

As mentioned in eGazette back in November, in this year's Summer Reading Challenge (SRC) children will be invited to take a giant leap to the final frontier – space!

Space Hop will be the 12th annual challenge, and it's clear from the national first Summer Reading Challenge conference in London back in November (supported by Peters Bookselling Services), that the challenge is a significant programme in the public library service calendar and is helping services to deliver against strategic plans. It has been proven to enhance reading confidence, skills, enjoyment and motivation.

This year there are changes and improvements that the Summer Reading Challenge wants to introduce and these are outlined in the accompanying document. We at Peters Bookselling Services welcome the opportunity to be involved in the planning and delivery of this new phase of the challenge, which will benefit you the customers. We can now confirm that from this year, SRC dumpbins and materials will be available separately from the Reading Agency. Therefore, we will be able to supply your SRC stock (until now, dumpbins were only supplied when orders were placed with a particular supplier).

Please read on to find out more.

Happy New Year! January 2010

Once again another year has flown by and we're out of the 'noughties' and into a new decade. In 2010 Peters will celebrate its 75th anniversary, a period in which the company has become the largest specialist children's book supplier in the UK.

We're proud to say that whilst we're a commercial organisation, we remain genuinely committed to children's reading and education. Certainly, there are many challenges ahead for schools, libraries and the future of children's reading in a rapidly changing technological world. Peters' ambition is to help schools and libraries grow their recognition amongst communities and in partnership we will look to become more efficient and continue to grow and diversify our service offering. We're confident that we can rise to this challenge.

Thank you to all of our customers for your continued support.

May we take this opportunity to wish you all a very successful 2010.

Warm regards, the staff and directors at Peters.
