Galaxy British Book Awards - Winners Announced

The Galaxy British Book Award winners have now been announced and Ricky Gervais was the surprise winner in the 'WHSMITH Children's Book of the Year' category, with his title 'Flanimals of the Deep'. The high profile comedian (and soon to be film star) beat an impressive list of shortlitsted authors including Geraldine McCaughrean, Terry Pratchett and Oliver Jeffers.

Elsewhere in the category winners whilst Steven Gerrard was finally scoring some goals for England against Andorra, his autobiography 'Gerrard: My Autobiography' was picking up the award for the Tesco Sports Book of the Year. Peter Kay picked up the Amazon Biography of the Year award with the Christmas bestseller 'The Sound of Laughter' and 'The Dangerous Book for Boys' by Conn and Hal Iggulden was awarded the Borders 'Book of the Year'.
