Maverick Early Readers

The Maverick Guided Reading Scheme was started in 2016 and aims to help children through their first steps of reading. There are now over 350 books in the scheme, including early readers, chapter readers, nonfiction readers, graphic reluctant readers and our new Fusion readers. There are also additional support resources available through the website.

• Written by a select team of 40 talented authors to a unique set of guidelines tailored for Maverick
• Conforms to the Letters and Sounds Phonics system
• Follows the colour book banding system developed by the Institute of Education (UK)
• Lower bands have an information page for each story, higher bands have a quiz. The last two bands contain short chapters.
